Laudate is a book at the service of the liturgy: the seasons, the Mass, the Sacraments, Funerals, the Prayer of the Church. It is arranged in liturgical order and contains the widest selection of music available in a Catholic hymnbook – from plainchant to the present day. Laudate has been compiled by Stephen Dean and an experienced editorial team.
With the Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur, this was the first officially authorised hymnbook since the introduction of the new translation. It contains the masses that have been revised in accordance with the 2010 English translation of the Roman missal, and about 25 replacement hymns. It also contains additional Mass settings – the Belmont Mass (Walker), Mass of Christ our Saviour (Schutte) and (for the first time in a mainstream hymnal) a complete Welsh mass by Alan Rees with new acclamations.
This edition is is two volumes, but rearranged so that the Mass settings are in one volume.
Volume 1: 1-487. Volume 2: 488-1028.
An Erratum Sheet
We had really hoped that there would be no problems with the revised Laudate, as the new Full Music was such a big undertaking and was looked over by so many people. But we got a message to say that where page 1054 in volume 2, with hymn number 700 should be, page 1044 appeared again. We went back through correspondence with the printer (who has done an excellent job.) We sent them a replacement page 1054 on the morning that they wanted the go-ahead to print, and asked them to make sure it was in the right place. Alas, they put it in the wrong one! We all make mistakes, and have got used over the years since Laudate was first published to apologizing for the ones we have made. This one, however, was someone else’s, but this is little satisfaction to us our to users of the book. We are very sorry this has happened.
A replacement page is sent out with copies of the Full Music from now on. If you have bought a copy you can send for one of these or you can download it from here.
The printers are suppling a replacement page and this will be sent out with copies of the Full Music from now on. If you have bought a copy you can send for one of these or you can download it from here. Both sides of the page are included so you can remove the offending page if you wish. When printing out the download set page size to A4, and set to double-sided if you are lucky enough to have that kind of printer. You can trim the page off using the guide marks, which are outside the printed area of the page.
