This collection of liturgical music is inspired by the antiphons and psalms of the Roman Missal and includes music for each Sunday, Solemnity, and major feast day of the liturgical year. The music is by the Collegeville Composers Group, five composers working collaboratively.
(The name Psallité comes from Psalm 47:8 psallite sapienter, sing praise with all your skill)

Psallité provides music for every Sunday and major feastday of the entire three-year Lectionary cycle. The complete Psallité collection contains over 600 songs. There is also a substantial sampler already available - see below. There are three pieces for each Sunday: a Song for the Week (entrance or closing song), a Song for the Word and a Song for the Table.

Psallité~The music of Psallité is essentially vocal - it works unaccompanied. It can be led by a single cantor, so it’s ideal for parishes with limited means. For those with further resources, Psallité comes with keyboard accompaniments, guitar chords, and descants for groups and choirs.

The form of the music is antiphon + psalm. A cantor sings the Antiphon, the assembly repeats it,the cantor sings a psalm verse, the assembly repeats the Antiphon, and so on - like the Responsorial Psalm, but Psallite makes use of many variants to the basic form so that it never becomes boring. Some pieces are longer, since they are designed to accompany the Entrance procession and the Communion procession as well as reflect on the 1st Reading. The texts of the antiphons are biblically based.

The style varies from plainchant to Afro-Caribbean to folksong and many others, all eminently singable.

Psallité Accompaniment Edition
The complete Accompaniment Books contains keyboard accompaniments, guitar chords and vocal/choral descants, together with all the psalm and canticle texts, for every items. Also included are complete biblical and liturgical indices. Reprintable congregational editions are available on a separate CD-ROM.

Psallite Cantor/Choir Edition~For those who don’t want to buy the accompaniment books for their singers. This volume contains the vocal part of every song in all three years of the Lectionary cycle. The psalm texts are interlined to assist those who find pointing difficult to manage.
