Latin Music for congregations

Laus Tibi, Christe presents 71 chant and choral settings of Mass parts, hymns, psalms, canticles and Marian antiphons, all in Latin. When used as a supplement with any major hymnal, this new resource provides the assembly with a broad collection of Latin texts for seasons and solemnities throughout the liturgical year.

Laus Tibi, Christe offers familiar, ancient texts and music as well as some recently composed in traditional style, including hymns by Harry Hagan, OSB and Genevieve Glen, OSB. Selected with the help of chant experts Columba Kelly, OSB, Dean Applegate, Edward Schaefer and Anthony Ruff, OSB, the 71 titles reflect a balanced repertoire that addresses the needs of communities that are new to Latin chant and those with a long tradition of using them. Gives you everything you need for the celebration of the Mass in Latin, including the complete Order of Mass and two additional Mass settings, including the newly composed Missa Salvator Mundi by Randall DeBruyn. There are Holy Week settings, funeral music, music for the Liturgy of the Hours (morning and evening prayer), and Marian antiphons.

Liturgy of the Hours for Sunday
Monks of New Camaldoli Hermitage

Recorded in the splendid acoustics of the chapel at New Camaldoli Hermitage in Big Sur, California, this new collection of chant draws the listener into the peace of the monastery with its simple and meditative tones. The 27 hymns, prayers and psalms - most of them chanted in English - follow the community’s singing of the Sunday Liturgy of the Hours, including Vigils, Lauds, Vespers and Compline, which closes with the traditional "Salve Regina" in a Gregorian mode.

The 22 Camaldolese Benedictine monks perform a style of plainsong based on Gregorian chant, but with variations that are unique to the community.

Because of their ties to eastern monasticism, they also employ some chants in Byzantine style in two and three part harmony, such as the opening "Trisagion" and the exquisite "Our Father" by Rimsky-Korsakov.
